Because plastic is so affordable to manufacturer, many car manufacturer opt to use plastic when structural integrity is not a factor. As such, you will find that a great many of the surface in your interior are plastic. While plastic is very easy to take care of due to it's non-porous, fairly durable composition, it is nearly impossible to repair once it has been damaged. As such, your focus should definitely be on protecting and cleaning the surface to prevent said damage from happening altogether. Much like many surfaces in your car's interior, plastic is very susceptible to UV ray damage. UV rays will eventually cause the plastic to fade, dull, and crack over time. So you need to be sure to stay ahead of it and properly care for these surfaces to avoid it!
